The World's Best Hamburgers,
uh... JoeBurgers!
Really!

Joe Thornton

I promised my good friend
Joseph Livingston Thornton
(August 29,1916-April 27,1990)
that I would share his recipe for hamburgers with the World.
"
Joe", "Jose", or "The Mayor";
was a fantastic cook, and a lover of well prepared meat.

Although Joe passed away many years ago,
folks all over the world can now flip his burgers on their grills,
thanks to his generosity to allow me to pass his once-secret recipe on.

Give this a try some Saturday or Sunday when you're looking for something new to try
on the grill or broiler.  I can pretty much guarantee that if you try these, you will never-ever
want to buy or eat another hamburger that has not been prepared with Joe's recipe.

"Joe-Burgers"

2 pounds of Ground Sirloin
2 tablespoons of MSG (Accent Meat Flavorizer)
1 1/2 tablespoon of Garlic Salt
1 tablespoons of Dry Mustard
2 tablespoons of Minced Unions
(optional)
2 tablespoons of Worcestershire
1/2 Cup of Water

Mix up with fork, touch very little Broil or Grill until done.
(Flip only once if possible. Makes about six burgers.  Cut recipe in half for only three).

"Joe's Steak Rub"

Mix equal parts of:
MSG
Garlic Salt
Paprika

Sprinkle and/or rub over steak.
Poke with fork and add Worcestershire.
Repeat for other side of the meat.

May 22nd, 1998:  Thanks to the The Colorado Springs Gazette, who ran my link and a mention of Joe's recipe.

August 3rd, 1998: I understand the Charolette Gazette WV also published our link.  Thanks!

To all who have written:  I've received many letters from folks who have surprised friends, at pool parties and outtings and such with JoeBurgers. Needless to say, they were all nice comments, and I hear some folks are getting a little wear on their fax/copiers finally!  One "hamburger/hotdog" stand asked permission to use the recipe.  Joe's legacy lives on!

2002: Joeburger Mix and Steak Rub published in Texas Utilities (TXU) annual cookbook.

Enjoy, and let me know what you think!
Thanks for coming by.
